Editorial Business Process

The editorial business process of Jurnal Ilmiah dan Riset Akademik covers the full lifecycle of a manuscript from initial submission to final publication. The process is designed to be transparent, efficient, and in full compliance with COPE publication ethics guidelines.

Complete Editorial Workflow

1 Submission Author submits via OJS online submission system with all required files (manuscript, cover letter, author statement). Day 1
2 Administrative Check Editorial staff checks formatting compliance, completeness, scope relevance, and plagiarism (Turnitin). Non-compliant manuscripts are returned. 1–3 days
3 Desk Review Editor-in-Chief or section editor evaluates scope, novelty, and scientific merit. Manuscripts may be desk-rejected at this stage. 3–7 days
4 Peer Review Assignment Handling editor assigns at least 2 qualified reviewers. Double-blind review process begins. 3–7 days
5 Peer Review Reviewers submit structured evaluations. Reviewers are given 3–4 weeks to complete their assessment. 3–6 weeks
6 Editorial Decision Editor synthesizes reviewer reports and issues one of: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject. Decision communicated to authors. 3–5 days
7 Author Revision Authors submit revised manuscript with point-by-point response to reviewers. Major revisions may require re-review. 2–4 weeks
8 Final Acceptance Editor-in-Chief issues final acceptance. Authors sign copyright/license agreement and pay APC. 3–5 days
9 Copyediting & Layout Editorial team performs language editing, typesetting, and layout. Authors review and approve the galley proof. 1–2 weeks
10 Publication Article is published online with DOI. Metadata is submitted to indexing databases (Crossref, Garuda, Google Scholar, etc.). 1–3 days
